About Us
While some of our dear friends and family already knew we are planning adoption others may not have. Towards the end of 2009, we started investigating building our family through adoption. This website is dedicated to chronicling the process (and the ups and the downs we stumble through) in order to meet our goal of bringing our family together. Please check back often as we'll do our best to update our blog with where we are in the process.
This of course was not the initial direction we had planned but felt that God had opened our hearts to not be so frightened of this possibility. After much discussion and research we decided to embark on this journey and we are now planning on a Russian adoption. And this is where we invite you to join us!

UPDATE: August 9, 2012 - We did complete our adoption and are ready to begin the saving process & eventually begin the paperwork for our 2nd! We adopted our son from St. Petersburg almost 1 year ago exactly & he is the apple of our eyes. He is an absolute joy & we couldn't be more pleased with him. He is now 2 years old and poses every challenge a 2 year old should! So when we asked if he wanted a sister & he responded with a yes, we said ok. After investigating the US Foster System, we have decided against it for our own personal reasons. Our current goal is to save what we can and in year, see where we stand. We are hoping to go back to Russia & find the sister he is waiting for & even by choosing to wait for a sister it will be a long process. ----- Kelly M.
UPDATE: April 30, 2014 - Unless you somehow missed it, Russia has closed all international adoptions. The US was the first to go & just recently did they shut down all remaining countries. Another blow to the families. Another hit to adoptions worldwide. But even more so, children who were orphaned once have now been orphaned again. Who can blame them for not trusting adults? We did complete a new home study & have been waiting for almost a year now for the next chapter of our lives to begin. We don't really know where we will end up but we are open to anything -- fostering, private, open, closed, whatever. With the adoption process being as complicated & horrific as it can possibly be we just can't afford to be closed to anything. Only more time will tell...
